Southern Toadlet Information Session Friday 7 June at Edendale
Nillumbik Landcare Network invites you to attend a free presentation on the 'Southern Toadlet' by frog expert Craig Cleeland.
Come and hear about the Southern Toadlet project, the ecology and habitat requirements of this rare species.
There will also be a presentation on a recently conducted survey on the Southern Toadlet. The survey results will reveal the risks to this species, and future populations in Nillumbik.
A light supper will be provided.

Diamond Creek Catchment Crawl
Join us for a bike ride along Diamond Creek to discover what creatures call it home!
Jump on your bike for a fun family friendly ride and…
- Learn about platypus in Diamond Creek
- Discover the frogs that call local waterways home
- Be entertained by a live performance from
- Mrs Ticklebottom at Edendale Farm
- Enjoy a free lunch
The ride will be a leisurely one, that will almost entirely be on the Diamond Creek trail.
Diamond Creek to Edendale Farm is approximately 8km return.
Children are welcome on the ride, but please ensure that they will be able to ride the distance and must be supervised at all times.

Event: Hop into Frogs Sunday 28 October 2018
Hurstbridge District Landcare Presents: Hop Into Frogs

Join us for a free and fun evening to learn about frogs.
Ecologist Craig Cleeland will share his amazing knowledge of our local frogs and give us some tips on creating frog friendly habitat.
Landcare members will also talk about support for managing your land and the local surrounds.
After we’ll cross the road to a nearby wetland. There you’ll see how, with a just a phone, you can identify frogs and contribute to a Victoria-wide fog census.
Everyone welcome – suitable for all ages – there’ll be pizza.

Landcare presence at Practically Green Festival Sunday 14 October
Nillumbik Landcare Network will be combining forces with the Biodiversity team at Nillumbik Shire Council to have a stall at the Practically Green Festival Sunday 14 October from 10.30am - 4.30pm. We will be offering land management advice and encouraging people to plant indigenous plants in their gardens and join their local Landcare or Friends group. Come and have a chat with us!

Kids - can you help us find the Southern Toadlet?
Nillumbik Landcare Network invites kids and their parents to join in some fun this Easter holidays with a nature education workshop. The workshop will provide information and hands on activities for kids to learn about frogs, their life cycle, adaptations, habitat and positive actions to help frogs, all with a focus on the threatened Southern Toadlet. We will also be learning how to use Melbourne Water’s Frog Census app in the hope that it will inspire families to get outside and help us look for the elusive Southern Toadlet. The workshop will be led by Leap into Nature founder, mum and zoologist Christina Renowden. Places are limited to 30 kids so get in fast to secure your spot!

Ecology of the Southern Toadlet - Sat 24th Feb 2018
Nillumbik Landcare Network invites you to attend a presentation on the Southern Toadlet presented by frog expert Craig Cleeland where you will learn about the ecology and habitat requirements of this rare species. This will be followed by an engaging workshop presented by James Frazer of Melbourne Water where you will learn some great tips and tricks for monitoring frogs using the Frog Census app.
Date: Saturday 24th February 2018
Time: Arrive 5:30pm for a cuppa and a bite to eat. Presentations start at 6pm, followed by a visit to Hurstbridge wetland about 7pm.
Venue: Hurstbridge Community Hub (50 Graysharps Rd, Hurstbridge)
Cost: Free

Conservation Futures Project
Through the Conservation Futures project, Nillumbik Shire Council is offering the opportunity for financial support to Nillumbik Landcare groups for on ground works in order to protect local threatened species and their habitat.
The project will focus on nine key species:
- Brush-tailed phascogale
- Slender-tailed dunnart
- Eltham copper butterfly
- Round-leaf pomaderris
- Matter flax-lily
- Clover glycine
- Rosella spider-orchid
- Charming spider-orchid
- Wine-lipped spider-orchid
Works that can be supported include fox control, weed control, exclusion fencing and enhance plantings, these works must be focused on the conservation of the above threatened species or their habitat.
